About Domino's Domino's originated as DomiNick's in 1960 and was launched by Tom Monaghan and James Monaghan. The company was renamed Domino's in 1965. Though the company started out with only one single store in Michigan, Domino's today owns and operates over 13,000 locations. There are even Domino's in areas outside the U.S., including Colombia. The chain is known today around the country as an inexpensive place to purchase pizza for carryout or delivery. The menu has expanded from pizza to include chicken, sandwiches, pasta, bread, sides, drinks, and dessert. Domino's patented Heat Wave technology is used to keep pizzas fresh and hot from the store to consumers' doors.
